Psalm 91
My Refuge and My Fortress
91 He who dwells in athe shelter of the Most High
will abide in bthe shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say1 to the LORD, “My crefuge and my dfortress,
my God, in whom I etrust.”
3 For he will deliver you from fthe snare of the fowler
and from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will gcover you with his pinions,
and under his hwings you will ifind refuge;
his jfaithfulness is ka shield and buckler.
5 lYou will not fear mthe terror of the night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
8 You will only look with your eyes
and nsee the recompense of the wicked.
9 Because you have made the LORD your odwelling place—
the Most High, who is my crefuge2—
10 pno evil shall be allowed to befall you,
qno plague come near your tent.
11 rFor he will command his sangels concerning you
to tguard you in all your ways.
12 On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you ustrike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread on vthe lion and the wadder;
the young lion and xthe serpent you will ytrample underfoot.
14 “Becausehezholdsfasttomeinlove,Iwilldeliverhim;
Iwillprotecthim,becauseheaknowsmyname.
15 Whenhebcallstome,Iwillanswerhim;
Iwillbewithhimintrouble;
Iwillrescuehimandchonorhim.
16 WithdlonglifeIwillsatisfyhim
andeshowhimmysalvation.”

Shepherd the Flock of God
5 So I exhort the elders among you, mas a fellow elder and na witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 oshepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,1 pnot under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;2 qnot for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not rdomineering over those in your charge, but sbeing examples to the flock. 4 And when tthe chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the uunfading vcrown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. wClothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for x“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 xHumble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 ycasting all your anxieties on him, because zhe cares for you. 8 aBe sober-minded; bbe watchful. Your cadversary the devil dprowls around elike a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 fResist him, gfirm in your faith, knowing that hthe same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And iafter you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, jwho has called you to his keternal glory in Christ, will himself lrestore, mconfirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 nTo him be the dominion forever and ever.
